Park Han Byul Chops Long Locks for Role in Upcoming Drama “Well Raised Daughter,Hana”

Arguably better known as singer Se7en’s girlfriend for over a decade. Park Han Byul recently made headlines when news of their break up leaked but the two kept mum about it. Now, she’s back in the headlines not because she’s starring in a drama for the first time but more for cutting a whole chunk of her beautiful, long locks. When I first saw the stills myself, I had to do a double take. I thought I was looking at an uber cute man-boy or at a member of some of the oh-so-many idol groups that I can’t even recall their names. So I checked and surprisingly it is indeed Park Han Byul masquerading as a high school boy for the upcoming SBS Monday to Friday drama called Well Raised Daughter, Hana잘 키운 딸 하나. What I can say? Wow! She looks young for a 28 year old lady.

Park Han Byul will portray a dual role in the drama namely, Jang Geun Seong and Jang Hana. Hana, the daugher of the Jang family who owns a 200 year old soy sauce empire. She had to pretend as the family’s son Jang Geun Seong to protect the family business from bad-meaning people and business rivals. To keep the secret and make everyone believe the bogus identity, she goes to a school as a boy. The drama is set to premiere on December 2nd replacing Ugly Alert.

“Prime Minister and I” Teases with Lee Bum Soo and YoonA’s 1st Encounter

Teaser Captures

KBS2 released the first official trailer of its upcoming Monday-Tuesday rom-com drama Prime Minister and I 총리와 나. Based on the trailer, this drama hints at a hilarious, carousel type of story. One with just enough up and down, yet fully enjoyable and romantic. It brings to mind, one of the most successful romantic drama South Korea has ever produced —Lover’s in Paris with Park Shin Yang and Kim Jung Eun. Guy rides a luxury car while the girl rides a bicycle (in this case a moped). In both dramas the male leads were once married. The girl enters the picture bringing along a bundle of sunshine with her and changes the heart of a once cynical, workaholic, uptight man.

I do hope that for once YoonA can do better. Her previous dramas were mostly duds. The most recent being the tragic “Love Rain” which had an average rating of 5%. Maybe she can learn a thing of two in acting from her veteran partner Lee Bum Soo, for she definitely needs a few pointers in that area. Let’s just say, she’s a better entertainer than actor.

In their run-in YoonA (reporter Nam Da Jung) looks to be drunk (pun intended (^.^)) holding on to Lee Bum Soo’s (PM Kwon Yool) leg while he gives her a cold, what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-this-girl stare. I’m pretty sure there will be more run ins after that.

BTS for “Man From the Stars” featuring Kim Soo Hyun

SBS released publicity photos for the upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama Man From the Stars or You Who Came From the Stars 별에서 온 그대 showing male lead Kim Soo Hyun going around the block in a suit. He even checks himself out on the monitor, not because he’s vain but merely as a common practice among actors. Of course you would want to see the finished product. In the stills, he looks astonishingly young. I’d say around 16 or 17 although he is 25 in real life. I want to have whatever he’s having!

In the drama, KSY plays Do Min joon, a 400 year old alien who fell to earth during the Joseon dynasty but has maintained his youthful, pretty looks. He is supposed to look perfect and is fast and agile. Because he has stayed on earth for four centuries, he grew cynanical over human beings. This is going to change after falling in love with a hallyu star Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun) who is physically much older than him.

I have already seen their cute dynamics in the movie “The Thieves”, and I gotta say that pretty boy can hold his own ground. I guess he is not intimidated by his noona sunbae. Maybe it’s because he has romanced older women in the movie and more so in the drama The Moon that Embraces the Sun. ‘Atta boy!

Kim Tan and Young Do Duke it Out, The Heirs Style!

I have nothing to say on this matter. Or maybe just a little. How pretty Cha Eun Sang must be feeling when two of the hottest boys in your ultra elite school is duking it out just for you. Or are they really fighting over her and not merely satisfying their bruised egos the size of a football field? This bromance is going to the next level and I’m liking it. Evil laugh.

Let the pictures do the talking.

Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye Shares First Kiss

SBS shared some treats today well ahead of the holloween celebration. It shows Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) and Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye)  sharing their first kiss at the school’s rooftop. Did I just hear a collective yell? ‘Must be my imagination. It looks like Kim Tan is moving in for the kill! Way to go boy, who looks hot in a high school uniform. Until now Kim Tan has only watched Eun Sang from afar not revealing how he truly feels. They have been constantly bickering and he’s been acting like a jealous boyfriend. But with these stills, it only means that things are about to change as Kim Tan confesses his true feelings. How would she react?

On the downside, I just had to say this. We got to admit that he looks kinda old for a high school student and so with the others. I still think it would have been better in a university setting though. But then again, if the vampires at Mystic Falls can pull it off, then I say why the heck can’t they? On with Boys Over Flowers..err…I meant The Heirs.

Do enjoy!

“The Heirs” Drops Squeal-Worthy Stills of Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye in School Uniform

For those who’s familiar with my blog, you may have noticed that I haven’t been writing about this drama even though I have waited for this like “forever”.  The reason is simple. Yes, I have been watching it religiously and is updated about everything and anything that concerns it but…I don’t want to write a recap nor a review about it. Honestly, when it comes to this drama I feel that my mind is somewhat bogged. I don’t know why. But I’m with you in squealing, spazzing, waiting, and all other imaginable teen-related driven emotion, though I’m no teen.

Anyway, SBS is playing Santa Claus these days  and dropped these set stills from the Mapo-dong area in Seoul where the shoot took place. An “idol-looking” Lee Min Ho (Kim Tan) decided to drop by the high school to pick up Park Shin Hye (Cha Eun Sang). And here I thought he just wanted to show off his fab ride and runway outfit. Aww!

Ruby Lin, Yuan Hong Historial Drama “Long Ballad” Newest HD Stills

Long Ballad 秀丽江山 is a Ruby Lin co-produced and starred historical drama adapted from a novel by Li Xin with the same title. It tells the story of a university student named Guan Li Hua who time traveled back to two thousand years ago. She possessed the body of the teenage daughter of a wealthy family during the Han Dynasty named Yin Li Hua. A straightforward and quick witted girl. It also tells the story of Liu Xiu, an ordinary peasant boy who ascended to the highest seat of power in all of Han and became emperor. It was a time of turmoil and war but the two experienced the purity of first love only to be separated by their circumstances. But fate reunited the two of them once again and both fought side by side in their ensuing battle to restore and unite the dynasty. Amidst palace intrigues, interweaving conspiracies, and war is their love strong enough to withstand the test of time?

According to lady producer Ruby Lin the story will remain faithful to the novel except for the time travelling part. Should I be grateful for that? I guess so. I think I have enough dose of time travelling dramas or series, thank you very much! Long Ballad is in the peak of filming in Xiangshan as of this writing. It boasts of beautiful costumes and natural scenerary plus a whole batallion of men in wigs and body armors including Yuan Hong who plays Liu Xiu, Kenny Kwan (Deng Yu), Yu Bo (Liu Xuan), Zong Feng Yan (who’s a staple in historical dramas in my opinion having made a gazillion of them!) Wang Yuan Ke, Jean Li, etc.

What’s different about this upcoming drama is that Ruby Lin is not playing a heroine who uses her beauty (Schemes of a Beauty, Glamorous Imperial Concubine) but instead she’ll be a feisty, blade wielding lady ala Mulan. If the drama gods agrees, it will be released early next year.

Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Dong Gun’s Realistic Wedding Pics for Marry Him If You Dare

With only a few more hours left before it’s premiere today (October 14th), KBS releases some adorable wedding pictures of Marry Him If You Dare  미래의 선택 lead characters Mi Rae (Yoon Eun Hye) and Kim Shin (Lee Dong Gun). I love these wedding photos (still not loving the hair though). They make a lovely couple.

However, it leaves me wondering whether it’s a good thing to have released these now even before it’s pilot. I mean we all know that they are going to get married and get separated, that’s the main point of the whole time travelling thing to begin with. But, as a viewer myself, I also want to see a bit of competition among the males. We women absolutely adore it when men fight over us. Don’t we? So I would like to see Park Se Joo (Jung Yong Hwa) duke it out with Kim Shin (Lee Dong Gun) first. However, it seems like he won’t be given that much of a chance. But I also think that “the wedding” is just the beginning. They would separate eventually thus giving Se Joo a chance to woo Mi Rae and Kim Shin will try to do everything just to win her back. That’s how I feel but don’t let my crazy imaginings spoil the fun for you.

It’s the process that gets. The ending is just icing on the cake. Let’s see  how it goes tonight.

Upcoming Mainland Drama “One and a Half Summer” Releases First Stills with Nichkhun

Although One and a Half Summer won’t be airing until the middle of next year Interfax and CJ Entertainment released the first wave of stills in HD. The drama which has started production since July is expected to wrap up next month. Although the premise may not be all that fresh, a bunch of college kids learning to be independent, reaching for their dreams, fulfilling their passions and falling in love, yep! indeed we’ve seen a zillion dramas with the same story line. But, it doesn’t stop drama addicts from waiting for this one to come out, myself included, for the sole reason that it’s got 2PM‘s Nichkhun as the lead. This is not his first acting work but his first in China. I am eager to see if there’s more to him than his cute, baby face.

The drama centers on the female protagonist Luo Man played by actress Xu Lu, a cheerful, good-hearted tomboyish Philosophy major who’s constant companion is her childhood friend Li Xiu Qi played by one of mainlands hot property Jiang Jin Fu, a typical, law major goody two shoes. Nichkhun is Zhang Hao, a mischievous, musically gifted foreign student who flew to Beijing because of a girl he likes, Shu Qing played by Yu Wen Wen, a glamorous yet sad rich girl who’s secretly into rock music. A whole bunch of other college kids completes the characters including actors, Meng Jia or JIA from MissA, Zhu Dan, Wei Da xun, Wen Ting et. al.

The first encounter between Lou Man and Zhang Hao would result in constant bickering between the two but we all know where it would eventually lead. I wonder if they have chemistry or whether Lou Man would end up with Li Xiu Qi instead. It remains to be seen. Until then, let us first enjoy these first official batch of teasers.

“Medical Top Team” Increases Anticipation as More Stills are Revealed

The Kwon Sang Woo-Jung Ryeo Won-Joo Ji Hoon top billed hospital drama is upping their game as MBC releases more stills for their next drama which will premiere October 2nd on its Wednesday and Thursday block replacing the currently airing Two Weeks.

Over the other side of the fence, (KBS) Good Doctor is enjoying the ratings lead (albeit not solidly) which happens to be a hospital drama as well. Which means that two hospital dramas are going toe-to-toe from next month. But I suppose it’s a wise choice for MBC to pit Medical Top Team against Good Doctor with the latter almost nearing it’s finale. But after that Medical Top Team will be squaring off against the highly anticipated Lee Min ho-Park Shin Hye headlined drama The Heirs (or Heritors is you must) which is set to premiere October 9th on SBS. It will be very interesting to see which one comes out on top, but I get ahead of myself.

MTT is not short on idols as “the other” Min Ho from Shinee joins the cast along with Oh Yeon So, Ahn Nae Sang, Kim Yeong Ae et. al.
