The Heirs, Medical Top Team Pilot Episode — Who’s Number 1?

After months of preparation, numerous advertisements, hordes of BTS captures, stills and teasers, finally The Heirs (SBS) and Medical Top Team (MBC) aired its initial telecast. But the question on everyone’s mind is undoubtedly –which drama came out on top? None of the two! Secret claimed the top spot for the night with 12.4% which was previously held by So Ji Sub-Gong Hyo Jin’s The Master’s Sun which ended it’s successful run with 23.6% on it’s final episode. Meanwhile The Heirs placed second with 11.6% and Medical Top Team got 8.5% on third.
Medical Top Team–Intense. Immersive. But it kind of reminds you of last year’s Goldentime in how the camera angles work (which reminds me that even the poster were almost the same). Kwon Sang Woo and Jung Ryeo Won are solid actors. You’ll probably love the battle among the medical geniuses but I’m pretty sure that most would stay for the quiet and romantic moments. I say… continue watching.

The Heirs –The characters were hip, vibrant, youthful and doesn’t hurt the eyes. In other other words, it looks like a glossy poster art.I gotta admit, Lee Min Ho is hot. But if you’re not into the Cinderella, happily-ever-after kind of story then this is not for you. But what’s interesting to find out is what will happen once the exiled Kim Tan goes back to Korea. When the scheming, backstabbing and stealing starts. It is worth staying tuned for.

The second episodes for both dramas air tonight.

The Heirs, Medical Top Team: Face Off Begins This Week!

There hasn’t been a day quite like this in recent months were two highly anticipated dramas are set to go head-to-head and the face off begins on Wednesday. A pilot is very important for all TV stations for it’s were a fanbase can be established and that is why networks pour in a lot of their resources to hype a show. But that does not guarantee ratings success.Sometimes the pilot is so good but due to poor storyline, viewers lose interest. On the other hand, it can have a decent enough premiere and then go higher and higher because of strong character portrayals, OTP’s chemistry and a solid story. Everything must be in sync. Unfortunately, we can watch only one at a time but thank God for technology we can watch them all simultaneously. Yet we must choose a “first”. Which is it gonna be?

On the left corner– The Heirs (SBS) which I consider an “idol” drama frontlined by today’s hottest and should I say best looking Korean stars, Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin, Kang Min Hyuk, Krystal, Kim Ji Won, Choi Jin Hyuk. It is about the lives of the rich and famous (think Boys Over Flowers) and the poor girl who gets caught in the mix. Mainly a drama for the youth but we all know that they are a force to reckon with and I know that this one’s got their vote.

On the right corner– Medical Top Team (MBC) which is a hospital drama about a group of experts in their respective field coming together to form the best medical team in the country. A combined cast of seasoned actors and newbies including Kwon Sang Woo, Jung Ryeo Won, Joo Ji Hoon, Oh Yeon Seo, MinHo, Kim Ki Bang, Kim Young Ae et.al. If you are not satisfied with Good Doctor and thirsts for another medical drama, then this one is for you. If you have seen the movie “Pain/통증” and still want some Kwon Sang Woo and Jung Ryeo Won, then you can have your fill in this drama for sure.

As for me, I’ll be watching The Heirs. Why? Well, because I want to see LMH and PSH macking that is! Seriously, I have been watching a whole bunch of wuxia series and would like to have a lighter, feel good drama for a change.

I wonder which drama will come out the victor? That, we’ll have to wait and see.

P.S.

I actually thought today is Wednesday and just now realized that it’s Monday. I was actually waiting for the dramas to begin but instead it’s another show. Talk about excited! Oops, blooper!

“Medical Top Team” Press Presentation Held in Seoul

3

The press launch of MBC’s newest Wednesday-Thursday drama,Medical Top Team was held today in Seoul. Everyone from the main cast, Kwon Sang Woo, Jung Ryeo Won, Joo Ji Hoon, Oh Yeon Seo, Min Ho, to the director Kim Do Hoon who’s previous drama was the ratings juggernaut Moon Embracing the Sun (which also made a star out of  Kim Soo Hyun)and production staff were present at the event. As expected and customary, the actors shared their experience working with each other and shared some funny anecdotes about some “firsts” which they have learned from each other.  But I’m not gonna talk about that nor about the drama. Because what caught my attention really was what they had on. Yep! Fashion baby!

The cast must have received a memo that it’ll be a black and white affair because all of the stars were wearing precisely that –black and white. It was difficult to tell which one among the three men looked better in a suit but personally I like Min Ho’s style. He showed up dressed in a blue and maroon tartan, paired with black pants and white shirt accentuated with a black vest. He looked like a schoolkid to be honest but it is age appropriate so he carried the look rather well. Joo Ji Hoon chose to be a bit casual with a black jacket and black pants matched with a cute blue and white shirt. His best accessory though was his hair. It has grown longer thank God! It’s not as severe as it had been. Kwon Sang Woo on the other hand looked dapper in a black ensemble plus a sleek comb back hair. Can’t go wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with Jung Ryeo Won’s all white tailored, smart white blouse and skirt. I even love those over-sized dangling black earrings she’s wearing but I just don’t understand what compelled her to wear those fugly gray boots! A nice wedge would have been alright or booties would have been fine. In contrast, Oh Yeon Seo is a picture of modern feminine chic. I like the navy blue lace blouse and white skirt paired with lace-up black booties which I particularly like because I do have the exact same shoes hah!

Regardless of the fashion, I’m pretty sure they will be wearing smock gowns for the drama which is not that fashionable unless you’re Dr. McDreamy of course. It will air October 2nd replacing Two Weeks.
