Park Han Byul Chops Long Locks for Role in Upcoming Drama “Well Raised Daughter,Hana”

Arguably better known as singer Se7en’s girlfriend for over a decade. Park Han Byul recently made headlines when news of their break up leaked but the two kept mum about it. Now, she’s back in the headlines not because she’s starring in a drama for the first time but more for cutting a whole chunk of her beautiful, long locks. When I first saw the stills myself, I had to do a double take. I thought I was looking at an uber cute man-boy or at a member of some of the oh-so-many idol groups that I can’t even recall their names. So I checked and surprisingly it is indeed Park Han Byul masquerading as a high school boy for the upcoming SBS Monday to Friday drama called Well Raised Daughter, Hana잘 키운 딸 하나. What I can say? Wow! She looks young for a 28 year old lady.

Park Han Byul will portray a dual role in the drama namely, Jang Geun Seong and Jang Hana. Hana, the daugher of the Jang family who owns a 200 year old soy sauce empire. She had to pretend as the family’s son Jang Geun Seong to protect the family business from bad-meaning people and business rivals. To keep the secret and make everyone believe the bogus identity, she goes to a school as a boy. The drama is set to premiere on December 2nd replacing Ugly Alert.

BTS for “Man From the Stars” featuring Kim Soo Hyun

SBS released publicity photos for the upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama Man From the Stars or You Who Came From the Stars 별에서 온 그대 showing male lead Kim Soo Hyun going around the block in a suit. He even checks himself out on the monitor, not because he’s vain but merely as a common practice among actors. Of course you would want to see the finished product. In the stills, he looks astonishingly young. I’d say around 16 or 17 although he is 25 in real life. I want to have whatever he’s having!

In the drama, KSY plays Do Min joon, a 400 year old alien who fell to earth during the Joseon dynasty but has maintained his youthful, pretty looks. He is supposed to look perfect and is fast and agile. Because he has stayed on earth for four centuries, he grew cynanical over human beings. This is going to change after falling in love with a hallyu star Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun) who is physically much older than him.

I have already seen their cute dynamics in the movie “The Thieves”, and I gotta say that pretty boy can hold his own ground. I guess he is not intimidated by his noona sunbae. Maybe it’s because he has romanced older women in the movie and more so in the drama The Moon that Embraces the Sun. ‘Atta boy!

Park Yoo Chun Confirmed for SBS 2014 Action-Drama Offering “Three Days”

CJeS Entertainment, Park Yoo Chun‘s agency, confirmed yesterday about his small screen comeback in the first quarter offering for 2014 of SBS’s action-drama tentatively called “Three Days 쓰리데이즈”. As the title suggests, the story will unfold in 3 days. Mickey will play the lead role Han Tae Gyeong a member of the elite PSS (Presidential Security Service) whose job is to protect the President of South Korea and the Blue House. According to his agency, the JYJ member eagerly agreed to star in the said drama after reading the premise of the story and was immediately taken by the concept and with character. Kim Eun hee, behind last year’s Ghost which starred the amazing So Ji Sub, is the head writer for this drama. It will be directed by Shin Kyung Soo, the genius behind 2012’s Tree With Deep Roots (Jang Hyuk,Han Suk Kyu) which reaped awards at the Seoul International Awards 2012 and Baeksang Arts Awards respectively.

I was thinking 24 (you know,Jack Bauer?)except longer. Every event and all angles are presented in the most intense, thrilling, mysterious battle of wits and conspiracy. If the writer and director can steer the production along with the actors into that direction, then this drama can be as exciting as Iris (Lee Byung Hun, Kim Tae Hee). Forget the second one because it was crap in my opinion. But of course, to be as good as 24 would be like shooting for the stars. I wonder why Mickey has been taking tough guy roles lately. He’s previous role was a cop in the relatively popular drama I Miss You with Yoon Eun Hye, now currently doing Marry Him If You Dare. Mickey is one the idol-turned-actor who can really act so I’m pretty sure he’ll look perfect as a PSS agent, though personally I prefer his period roles (Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Rooftop Prince).

Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye Shares First Kiss

SBS shared some treats today well ahead of the holloween celebration. It shows Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) and Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye)  sharing their first kiss at the school’s rooftop. Did I just hear a collective yell? ‘Must be my imagination. It looks like Kim Tan is moving in for the kill! Way to go boy, who looks hot in a high school uniform. Until now Kim Tan has only watched Eun Sang from afar not revealing how he truly feels. They have been constantly bickering and he’s been acting like a jealous boyfriend. But with these stills, it only means that things are about to change as Kim Tan confesses his true feelings. How would she react?

On the downside, I just had to say this. We got to admit that he looks kinda old for a high school student and so with the others. I still think it would have been better in a university setting though. But then again, if the vampires at Mystic Falls can pull it off, then I say why the heck can’t they? On with Boys Over Flowers..err…I meant The Heirs.

Do enjoy!

“The Heirs” Drops Squeal-Worthy Stills of Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye in School Uniform

For those who’s familiar with my blog, you may have noticed that I haven’t been writing about this drama even though I have waited for this like “forever”.  The reason is simple. Yes, I have been watching it religiously and is updated about everything and anything that concerns it but…I don’t want to write a recap nor a review about it. Honestly, when it comes to this drama I feel that my mind is somewhat bogged. I don’t know why. But I’m with you in squealing, spazzing, waiting, and all other imaginable teen-related driven emotion, though I’m no teen.

Anyway, SBS is playing Santa Claus these days  and dropped these set stills from the Mapo-dong area in Seoul where the shoot took place. An “idol-looking” Lee Min Ho (Kim Tan) decided to drop by the high school to pick up Park Shin Hye (Cha Eun Sang). And here I thought he just wanted to show off his fab ride and runway outfit. Aww!

The Heirs, Medical Top Team: Face Off Begins This Week!

There hasn’t been a day quite like this in recent months were two highly anticipated dramas are set to go head-to-head and the face off begins on Wednesday. A pilot is very important for all TV stations for it’s were a fanbase can be established and that is why networks pour in a lot of their resources to hype a show. But that does not guarantee ratings success.Sometimes the pilot is so good but due to poor storyline, viewers lose interest. On the other hand, it can have a decent enough premiere and then go higher and higher because of strong character portrayals, OTP’s chemistry and a solid story. Everything must be in sync. Unfortunately, we can watch only one at a time but thank God for technology we can watch them all simultaneously. Yet we must choose a “first”. Which is it gonna be?

On the left corner– The Heirs (SBS) which I consider an “idol” drama frontlined by today’s hottest and should I say best looking Korean stars, Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin, Kang Min Hyuk, Krystal, Kim Ji Won, Choi Jin Hyuk. It is about the lives of the rich and famous (think Boys Over Flowers) and the poor girl who gets caught in the mix. Mainly a drama for the youth but we all know that they are a force to reckon with and I know that this one’s got their vote.

On the right corner– Medical Top Team (MBC) which is a hospital drama about a group of experts in their respective field coming together to form the best medical team in the country. A combined cast of seasoned actors and newbies including Kwon Sang Woo, Jung Ryeo Won, Joo Ji Hoon, Oh Yeon Seo, MinHo, Kim Ki Bang, Kim Young Ae et.al. If you are not satisfied with Good Doctor and thirsts for another medical drama, then this one is for you. If you have seen the movie “Pain/통증” and still want some Kwon Sang Woo and Jung Ryeo Won, then you can have your fill in this drama for sure.

As for me, I’ll be watching The Heirs. Why? Well, because I want to see LMH and PSH macking that is! Seriously, I have been watching a whole bunch of wuxia series and would like to have a lighter, feel good drama for a change.

I wonder which drama will come out the victor? That, we’ll have to wait and see.

P.S.

I actually thought today is Wednesday and just now realized that it’s Monday. I was actually waiting for the dramas to begin but instead it’s another show. Talk about excited! Oops, blooper!

Kim Woo Bin Hops on a Motorcycle for “The Heirs”

With only a few days left before its pilot, Those Who Want To Wear the Crown, Withstand the Weight, The Heirs/ 왕관을 쓰려는자, 그무게를 견뎌라-상속자들 stars are all busy filming. Lee Min Ho is seating-in in some American University trying his best to learn some business sense or at least that’s what his character in the drama, Kim Tan is trying to do, Park Shin Hye juggles her homework with her day job and daydreams by the seashore looking pretty. Kim Woo Bin on the other hand, is the “king of cool”, sitting on a motorbike looking like a modern-day knight in shining armor. The actor along with co-star Kim Ji Won were snapped by they’re Chinese fans recently filming some scenes for the drama.

It is interesting to note that before School 2013, both Kim Woo Bin and Lee Jong Suk were just “relatively” popular but after their “bromance” on screen which made many ajumas go ga-ga. Now, even their personal lives are under scrutiny. Recently, Kim Woo Bin admitted his relationship with model-girlfriend. I’m pretty sure a lot of hearts were broken and ajumas are cursing the very existance of that pretty girl. I’m not one of them I swear! I think he’s aight. That is all.

The anticipation for this drama is high specially with the younger demographics, undoubtedly because of the good looking cast. Although that very same theory didn’t quite work for To The Beautiful You. I will surely check it out on October 9 if only to see how it matches up to Boys Over Flowers. I will reserve my opinion till then.
